Purgatorio 1.19–21
Dante, seeing Venus veil Pisces in the dawn sky
Lo bel pianeto che d’amar conforta
faceva tutto rider l’orïente,
velando i Pesci ch’erano in sua scorta.
The lovely planet that strengthens love
made all the eastern sky laugh,
veiling the Fishes that were in her escort.
