Paradiso 8.139–141
Charles Martel to Dante in the sphere of Venus
Sempre natura, se fortuna trova
discorde a sé, com’ ogne altra semente
fuor di sua regïon, fa mala prova.
Nature, whenever she finds fortune
discordant with herself, like every seed
outside its own region, always makes a bad showing.
